TEACHERS and support staff at Priory School, Lewes, have voted to join their colleagues at Southover CE Primary in writing to governors to oppose plans for a Multi Academy Trust in the town.
Nick Childs, Senior Regional Officer (NEU) said: “Priory is a shining example of a successful, accountable and inclusive comprehensive.
“It has prospered for generations as part of the democratic county family.
“There is no convincing reason to privatise aside from a pay bonanza for those at the top at the expense of staff and children.
“There is no extra funding for academy schools. Privatisation is a one way street.”
Lewes Priory Head Tony Smith insists no final decision has yet been made, after detailed research.
