A CAR and a van crashed on the A259 on Brighton seafront, leaving one person injured.
The road was closed for two hours near Brighton Marina but has now re-opened.
Witnesses reported that a van overturned.
A Sussex Police spokesman said the injuries were minor.
The accident caused heavy traffic to build up on Eastern Road which runs parallel to the A259.
A witness driving in the area said: "I saw what looked like a taxi cab which had been involved in a crash and was blocking the road."
A traffic update from the AA said: "Road closed and very slow traffic due to accident.
"Car and van involved on A259 Marine Parade both ways from Eaton Place to B2137 Arundel Road."
⚠️ Due to an accident by Arundel Terrace in Brighton, the road is blocked in both directions. All #coastal services are diverted via Rock Gardens, Eastern Road and Roedean Road. We cannot serve any stops between New Steine and Roedean School on the coast road. ⚠️
