A derelict nursing home has been gutted by fire in a suspected arson attack.

Firefighters were called to the former Manor Court home in Janes Lane in the World’s End area of Burgess Hill at 10.40pm on Sunday.

The crews tackled the flames inside for three hours before leaving the scene, and say they believe the fire was caused deliberately.

Four fire engines were sent, and crews had to wear specialist breathing masks to fight the flames.

They also used thermal imaging cameras to find hotspots to make sure the blaze was fully out.
