A CRASH between a lorry and two cars has caused part of the A27 to be closed.

One of the cars hit a tree as a result of the collision, which happened at around 2.55pm between Lacys Hill and Firle Road east of Lewes.

Police are at the scene.

An AA spokesman said: "Road closed and stationary traffic due to recovery work and accident, a flatbed lorry and two cars involved on A27 Eastbound between Lacys Hill, Glynde turn off, and Firle Road, Ripe turn off.

"Congestion to Southerham Roundabout. Also causing further delays on the A26 southbound at the Southerham roundabout."
