A ROAD was blocked after a car hit a central reservation and crashed into a sign.

The accident happened in North Street, Worthing, at about 8.15am today.

Police and the fire service were at the scene. The car blocked the road for about 45 minutes.

The driver was not injured and was not trapped inside the car.

A spokesman for the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to assist with scene safety following an RTC involving one vehicle in North Street, Worthing, at 8.16am.

“One fire engine was sent to the scene. On arrival, it was established no one was trapped. Crews made the vehicle and road safe, and we left at 8.45am.”
