George Cox has signed a new deal with Albion, months after life-threatening heart surgery.
The under-23s left-back has agreed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until June 2020.
Cox, 20, played every game in last season's promotion campaign for the under-23s before routine screening by the club in July picked up an irregular heartbeat. He was operated on three weeks later.
Under-23s coach Simon Rusk said: "George thoroughly deserves his new contract. He's delivered a consistent level of performance over the past few seasons and proved to be a valuable member of the team.
"After a difficult summer for George, he's bounced back and picked up where he left off last season. He's always developing and it's great have secure his services for another year."
Former Albion defender Connor Goldson had major heart surgery in March 2017 after routine screening identified a swollen aorta.
Goldson joined Glasgow Rangers in the summer.
