A DOGFISH was found lying in a city centre park about 450 metres from the sea.

Resident Jonathan Cohen was out on a walk with his 18-month-old son when he spotted the very out of place sea creature lying on the grass in Brunswick Square.

He said: “I couldn’t believe it. It was so far away from the sea and I have no idea how it got there.

"There was no damage to it.

"It looked like it just swam out of the sea and on to the grass.

"There was a dead seagull lying not too far from it, so the plot thickens.”

Roger Musselle from Roger Wildlife Rescue said his first instinct was the dogfish had been dragged to the park by a fox.

"He said: “Although there wasn’t damage on the skin, foxes have soft mouths and it wouldn’t have caused much damage.

“The only other reason I can think of is a person would have put it there but then who on earth would have done that?

"And we have not had a big enough storm to have blown it that far from the sea.”
