The Old Market, Hove, Saturday, December 22

If you haven’t taken your little ones to their first panto this Christmas season then this might be the perfect way to introduce them to theatre.

Join the Moomins on their tour around their world.

It’s a land of adventure that will leave your children beaming from ear to ear.

There is some great puppetry and a brilliantly designed pop-up book style set that will be a joy to watch and a great way to spend the weekend before Christmas.

Peter Pan

Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts, Sussex University, Falmer, until Monday, December 31

JW Productions and Brighton Theatre Events team up to bring panto to ACCA.

The story of Peter Pan has been told time and time again and it still proves to be a classic.

Will Peter and his friends be able to foil whatever plot that Captain Hook has up his sleeves?

Like the event above, this would be a perfect way to break your youngsters into theatre or Christmas panto.

The intimate stage at the Attenborough Centre makes for a welcoming atmosphere and a great show experience.

Bad Manners

Concorde 2, Brighton, Sunday, December 23

Buster Bloodvessel and co have been bringing their ska stylings to the seaside for a show every Christmas for years now.

The group still have the same bonkers stage presence and sound as they did when they first started in 1976.

It is a credit to their staying power and popularity that they have been able to bring their show back every year and still play venues the size of the Concorde.

They formed part of the ska revival in the Eighties, along with the likes of Madness and The Specials, and took the nation by storm.

The band bring a great show every time they come down.

Bon Giovi

Concorde 2, Brighton, Friday, December 28

No that’s not a misspelling, you can be sure that if the real Bon Jovi were coming to Sussex it would warrant an entire page of my babbled excitement.

But the next best thing is coming to Brighton and they should definitely be seen.

Bon Giovi have been considered one of the best tribute acts in the world for years. There is no doubt that Bon Jovi have created some of the catchiest and well-known rock tracks ever made, and even if you can’t see them themselves then this is the best option you’ve got.

They’re a great night out and you are guaranteed a cracking singalong set.

Slade

Concorde 2, Brighton, Saturday, December 29

“IT’S CHRISTMASSSSS.” As Noddy Holder belts out that one line you know what season it is, what week it is, what day it is.

Merry Xmas Everybody is a song that has captured the hearts of the nation and well and truly lets you know that it is Christmas.

Noddy may not be the Slade frontman any more but that’s no reason to not turn out to see this song played live.

Not to mention Slade have a huge number of other hits. It’s probably a show for the older souls but there’s no doubting the impact Slade have had on rock music.
