EMERGENCY services were called to Alfriston following reports of a person found in a river.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFR), Sussex Police, the Coastguards, the HART Team and a helicopter were at the scene last night at about 8.30pm.
After an extensive search, no body had been found.
An ESFR spokeswoman said: "At about 8.35pm on Friday we were called to reports of a person in the river. After a long search, no body was found."
