DETECTIVES want to track down a man who may have seen a violent attack outside an ice cream parlour.

The attack near Creams in Western Road in Brighton in early December is being investigated as manslaughter after a man became seriously ill and died.

It happened at 11pm on December 2, and police believe a man shown in a CCTV image may know vital information that could help the inquiry.

At the time, the man in the attack did not seek medical help, but he went to the Royal Sussex County Hospital on December 17, then died on Sunday.

Police are seeking to establish whether the injuries he suffered in an attack caused his death.

Detective Inspector Chris Thompson said: “We’d like to talk to anyone who can identify the man pictured here or anyone who may have witnessed this incident.

"We’d also welcome information from anyone who has knowledge of events leading up to the assault.”

The detective said anyone with information is asked to report it on the Sussex Police website or call 101 and quote Operation Hughes.
