A MASKED robber who brandished a knife was foiled after DNA was found on a baseball hat he left behind.
Jason Weyer raided Grande Wines in Nyewood Lane in Bognor in September, stealing cash from the till.
The 49-year-old had gone to the shop at 10pm on September 3 along with an accomplice who is yet to be identified.
The two men used masks to cover their faces, and also wore blue latex gloves.
Staff were threatened at knife point before they were chased out by staff towards Marine Park.
There police found a baseball hat that contained Weyer’s DNA, and he was then traced on their database.
He was arrested and appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court, where a jury found him guilty after a two-day trial on December 20
Weyer, of Foundary Road in Yapton, was sentenced to four and a half years in prison because of the degree of planning required for the robbery.
