TODAY we can reveal the 14 winners of The Argus and OneFamily Christmas giveaway.
We teamed up with the financial services provider, based in West Street, Brighton, to spread some festive cheer.
We invited group and charities to tell us how they would each spend £500 in the run-up to Christmas.
The response was amazing. We were staggered by the number of applications we received.
Emma Banks, head of corporate communications, at OneFamily, said: “This is the first time we have paired up with The Argus and the interest we received was fantastic.
“We had more than 75 applications, many more than we thought we would.
“It took a long time to read through them all and then make the very difficult decisions.
“Initially, we said we would give £6,000 from The OneFamily Foundation but we ended up giving away £7,000, and we were thrilled to do so.”
The lucky recipients are:
Hove Park School and charity Time To Talk Befriending
Denton Primary School
mASCot in Portslade
Coastal West Sussex Mind
Sweet Peas
Worthing Soup Kitchen
Food And Friendship, Hove
Tarner Community Project, Brighton
Golden Lion Children’s Trust
Absolute Angels, Eastbourne
City Academy Whitehawk School
Trevor Mann Baby Unit
Brighton Pebbles
The Payne Family in Rottingdean.
Argus editor Arron Hendy said: “This is an amazing list of 14 groups who have each received £500.
“I want to thank OneFamily who provided the funds for this excellent community initiative.
“I only wish that we had more money and we could have helped everyone who asked.
“But of course that is never possible.
“It was a very special way of The Argus doing its bit for the community, as we have done for so many years.
“There are so many great charities, individuals and organisations doing great work to help the community.”
