AN NHS chief ran 1,000 miles to raise £1,060 for the Macmillan cancer charity.

Emma Dallos, who is head of finance at Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, is celebrating after pulling off the mammoth effort.

She ran different marathons, including the one in Brighton.

Emma even fitted in lots of miles while on holiday and finished the challenge on New Year’s Eve.

Emma, who lives in Hove, said: “At the beginning of 2018 I set myself a goal to run 1,000 miles to celebrate the 70th birthday of the NHS and to raise money for Macmillan.

“I wanted to give something back to Macmillan to thank them for all the invaluable support they gave me when both my parents were diagnosed with terminal cancer.”

During the year Emma’s runs have included the Brighton half marathon, Brighton marathon, Gatwick half marathon, Reigate half marathon, the Bright10 and the Great South Run.

She also completed park runs in Copenhagen and Belfast while she was on holiday.

She was thrilled – and relieved – to achieve her goal on the last day of 2018.

She said “I was surprised that my husband and friends came out to meet me at the ‘finish line’ with champagne and flowers.

“What a great way to finish off the year.”
