BREAKFAST television presenter Piers Morgan has brought out his own meat stall on Good Morning Britain to start a “vegan resistance” movement in response to Greggs’s new meat free sausage roll.

The TV host slammed the bakery chain on Twitter, writing: “Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC clowns”.

The 53-year-old said he had an answer to the “vegan craze” and unveiled his Morgan’s Meat Parlour. He added: “Here we have some sausages, bacon, mince. This is produced by Great British farmers, people who I want to protect from this scourge that is engulfing our country.

“This is meat, produced in this country. People were proud and happy to eat meat.

“Morgan’s meat is available today. And guess what? I won’t die, meat is good for you. How do you think humans got here? We ate meat.”

Mr Morgan then unwrapped a Greggs vegan sausage roll, which was released last week. He said the roll “stinks” before eating it. He then winced and uttered “Ugh, God,” picked up a bin and spat it out.

After slamming the bakery on Twitter, Greggs responded by tweeting: “Oh hello Piers, we’ve been expecting you”.

Mr Morgan then claimed there are not 3.5 million vegans in the country. He said: “Think about it, when did you last see one? They all went down to Greggs to buy their vegan sausage roll even though sausage rolls are made of meat.

“It’s a fad, and they are tasteless. They don’t taste anywhere as good as the real thing.

“People think ‘if I don’t do it I’m missing out’ because Twitter told me to and it would annoy Piers Morgan. Really? That’s how you choose your eating habits now?”

The Sussex-born presenter is well-known for his anti-vegan stance and frequently criticises them on the programme.

Mr Morgan said “Brighton has gone nuts” in December when he slammed vegan activists for protesting outside a Waitrose supermarket in Western Road.

He blasted the group for “terrorising” old women and even challenged them to hold a demonstration outside his house.

The presenter then claimed that vegans are responsible for the extermination of billions of insects because of the baking industry.

Three members of Direct Action Everywhere Brighton (DxE Brighton) were invited to appear on the programme and the host accused them for being hypocrites for not defending all creatures who die during the production of food.

He then claimed that vegans use forceful tactics to push people to follow their beliefs.
