A WOMAN was pulled from the sea near Brighton Palace Pier tonight.
Police, paramedics and the Coastguard searched the seafront after reports a woman had entered the water.
The woman was found to the east of the pier at about 5.50pm.
She was put on a stretcher and carried to an ambulance.
Witness Jorn Suijkerbuijk, 24, said: "I saw someone standing below the pier down by the water.
"I left, but then I came back after I saw flashing lights.
"I have been waiting here to see what has happened. I think they went in the water."
Another witness, Kevin Meredith, 40, said: "I was cycling past and I saw floodlights going out across the water."
A Sussex Police spokesman said: "A female has been removed from the sea.
"Officers and coastguard are with her now."
