Steyning always goes to great lengths to bring the Christmas festivity to the high street, and this year was no exception.
Late November the festive period started with the instalment of the annual Christmas lights and tree. The lights and trees and their instalment is all payed by the Steyning and district business chamber, this was only possible with donation from local residents and business's.
In addition a annual late night shopping event is organised by the business chamber for the first Wednesday of December, this fell on the 8th. Unfortunately the weather was not in their favour but the rain didn't deter many, as the event was well attended.
Steyning late night shopping, is an opportunity for the community to come together and have fun. The programme was diverse ranging from young musicians showing off their talent, to local primary school choirs. The highlight for many was the great street food on offer from a range of vendor, including Garlic Wood farm among others. A raffle was held towards the end of the evening, and the money raised enables these events to continue. There were lots of stalls selling items such as cider or Christmas decorations and much more.
The chamber committee team works tirelessly for the success of the towns events and the the business. You might of seen them removing the decorations on the 6th of January to avoid the bad luck.
