POLICE searched a city centre street this morning.

Officers were seen looking around Manchester Street and Brighton seafront as well as in bushes in Charles Street.

A man was then seen being driven away.

A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: "Around 11.50am on Wednesday, January 9, two men were arrested, one of St James's Street and one on Lavendar Street, Brighton.

"Both men are in custody arrested in connection with drug offences."

A witness, who did not want to be named, saw the incident and said: “The police came down without their sirens on, so I think they were here looking for someone.

“The police came and put a man in handcuffs then drove him away."

Two officers used a ladder to search the roof of the entrance to The Albermarle in Manchester Street.

Three more officers also stayed at the scene and searched neighbouring Charles Street as well as the bushes to the east side of the Charles Street Tap pub.
