A ROAD has been blocked after a person collapsed in the city centre.
An ambulance attended the scene just after 3pm outside Ladbrokes in St James’s Street.
A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received reports that a person was in need.
“They were believed to have been suffering with a fit.
“One ambulance crew attended the scene.
“The person has been treated and taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital.”
The ambulance blocked the road and a queue of traffic formed behind it, including several buses.
A large crowd of people waiting at a nearby bus stop saw the incident.
One witness said: “When I walked past there was somebody on the floor by the ambulance.
“I think they were having a fit.”
