A THEATRE has been nominated for a national award, thanks to its family friendly values.
Brighton Open Air Theatre (BOAT) in Dyke Road Park, Hove, has been shortlisted for the best family venue honour at the Fantastic For Families awards.
Run by the Family Arts Campaign, they highlight the best shows and venues across the country for family friendly activities.
Anne-Marie Williams, manager of BOAT, said: It’s fantastic.
“We are a relatively new venue so to receive national accolades like this shows we are doing something right.”
BOAT was opened in 2015.
It was opened following the hard work of Adrian Bunting, the founder of the theatre who died from cancer two years before the opening of the venue.
Anne-Marie said nominations such as this are a tribute to what Adrian wanted to achieve.
She said: “Part of Adrian’s legacy is that we are welcoming to everyone, we aren’t just for the
elite.
“That’s reflected by our pricing and the fact that people can bring food and drink in
“We’re a family friendly venue and family is at the heart of the community.”
BOAT is one of six venues across the nation nominated for the award.
