At the age of 73, when most people would have retired, Hove-based guitarist and singer David Gilmour remains as popular as ever.

The Pink Floyd star is no doubt delighted to see that three of the band's albums and a best of compilation are in the UK vinyl album charts top 40. 

Dark Side of the Moon, which is considered one of the greatest albums of all time, has soared to number three in the vinyl album charts.

Meanwhile, The Wall a double album reflecting on the protagonist's mental breakdown, is at number ten, while Wish You Were Here, which includes legndary track Shine On You Cray Diamond, a tribute to band founder Syd Barrett is at number 33. 

Finally, Foot In The Door, a Pink Floyd best of, is at number 40. 

Gilmour, and his wife Polly Samson are currently building a state-of-the-art home on Hove seafront is universally acknowledged as one of the world's greatest guitar players.
