A POPULAR theatre workshop is set to return later this month.

The Age is a Stage classes have been a popular feature in the calendar of the Theatre Royal, Brighton, for two previous terms and will be coming back throughout the rest of winter and into spring.

Run by OldsKool Arts, in collaboration with the theatre’s creative learning team, the sessions are tailored to those who are 50 and above.

Classes take place on Friday mornings and encourage those taking part to get involved in drama, dance and even circus.

A statement from Age is a Stage said: “Participants are encouraged to break the rules, be stupid, be playful and look at the world with a fresh eye unclouded by routine and Facebook.

“They are designed to light or reignite the creative spark of the older generation who still feel young.

“Once participants have stepped through the doors they find that the spirit of the theatre energises them and they remember what fun there is to be had when like minds meet.”

The classes are run by Chris Cresswell, an award-winning director and actor who has experience many types of stage entertainment; from cabaret to percussion groups.

Theatre Royal general manager, John Baldock, said: “It is great to see people rediscovering the power of play in a building that is all about creativity and excitement.

“Age is a Stage reignites the joy and wonderment that we often lose when we get older.”

The Age is a Stage sessions run on the following days: January 18 and 25, February 1, 8, 15 and 22; March 1, 8, 15 and 22. Sessions run from 10:30am to noon.

It comes at a cost of £10 per session or £76.50 for all the sessions. Anyone wanting to seal a place can book at the Theatre Royal Box Office or online at atgtickets.com/brighton.
