TWO people were punched and a woman was pushed as she held her young child during a brawl which spiralled out of control.

Police officers attended a verbal and physical altercation in Little Common Road in Bexhill at about 3.30pm on Friday, January 4.

The confrontation involved five people.

It is believed to have started as a result of an argument between the group’s members.

During the fight, a man and a woman were punched in the face.

Another woman was shoved and pushed while she was holding and at the same time attempting to protect a young child.

Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses to the altercation to help them with their ongoing enquiries.

PC Abby Standen said: “We believe the five people are all know to each other.

“We believe a physical altercation occurred following an earlier argument.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this altercation and is able to provide information.

“Were you driving past while the incident was taking place?

“Anyone with information is asked to contact us online or by calling 101 quoting 718 of 04/01.”

A 48-year-old man, who is from Bexhill, was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a person, causing actual bodily harm and common assault.

He was later released under investigation.
