MEET the trio who stole the audience’s hearts with a stunning performance of Frank Sinatra’s Luck be a Lady on television talent show The Voice.

The Flat Pack members, Duncan Turner, 43, Jamie Collins, 40 and Nathan Sherman, 36, who all live in Brighton, admitted they were very nervous at first when they performed on stage. The trio, who work as painters and decorators, made an impressed Olly Murs turn for them.

Nathan said: “We were very nervous at first. We have all sung individually many times over the years and it can be scary. But performing with Duncan and Jamie I didn’t feel as nervous as you might expect.

“The audience were incredible. As we sang, they were clapping and dancing. We got so into the performance that we forgot about the chairs. As we were getting close to finishing, my heart sank when no one had turned but Olly Murs did in the end. We are very pleased to join his team.”

Jamie added: “Previously we have performed as pairs but this is the first time we have ever performed as a trio in front of an audience.”

Duncan said: “We’ve been listening to Frank Sinatra’s songs since we were children. My grandfather was a musician who played the trombone for Frank Sinatra.”

Nathan added: “Jamie and I have known each other for 25 years, and we met Duncan about 15 years ago. Jamie and I performed in main roles in Guys and Dolls at school so Frank Sinatra’s songs are very nostalgic to us. After the audition, our friends from school got in touch because they remember the school production.”

Duncan said: “When we sing songs we give them a modern flavour and we sing in harmony. We have sung tracks from artists like Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder and we add some swing to them.”

The trio explained how they came up with their group name. Jamie said: “Duncan and I were joking about, and since we love songs by the Rat Pack we thought we should call ourselves the Flat Pack because we work in construction.”

Nathan added: “We have crazy dreams for Flat Pack, like performing in Vegas but for now, we hope Flat Pack can perform in local shows and venues. We don’t take ourselves too seriously and for us, it’s not just about singing, it’s about interaction with the audience too.”

The Voice is on today on ITV at 8pm. To find out more about Flat Pack go to facebook.com/TheOfficialFlatPack and instagram.com/TheOfficialFlatPack.
