A WIZARDING shop is giving people the chance to bid on a unique Harry Potter item.

Oliver’s Brighton, in Trafalgar Street, has been enchanting Potter fans for a year-and-a-half with their wizard merchandise.

And now they are launching an Ebay page for a dazzling item that will make the buyer the envy of all their friends if they are Harry Potter fans.

A gold and silver plated Quidditch (the sport played in the wizarding universe) chess set will go up on the bidding website on February 3.

Bidders will have a week to stake their claim for the item and the highest amount bid at the end of the week will win.

The chess set usually retails at about £300.

The stunning game contains the colours of all four Hogwarts houses, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin, so players can represent the house that best suits them.

The board was donated by Darren Brewer, 30, from Brighton, after he won it in an Oliver’s mystery giveaway.

Darren said: “I’m a massive Harry Potter fan and love Oliver’s shop.

“Curiosity got the better of me with the competition, I never expected to win.

“All we got told was it was a mystery prize.

“I was a bit speechless when I found out it was a chess set.

“It was only a day or two after and I was sitting at home thinking I would have no idea where to put it and I had no idea how to play chess.

“It seemed wrong to keep it in a box.

“I said to Oliver that I’d like to arrange a way to auction off the chess set to help the homeless.”

All the money from the winning bid will be donated to the Sussex Homeless Support, a charity that Oliver’s has been working with since opening in 2017.

Oliver Dall, who owns Oliver’s Brighton, said: “When I walk down the street and see people in sleeping bags, sleeping on the streets it breaks my heart.

“Even during the building work I could see the effects homelessness was having.

“From day one any money we got from bag charges and other bits we donated to the charity.”

Jim Deans, campaign manager at Sussex Homeless Support, said: “This is probably the second year we’ve worked with Oliver.

“Once he raised £1,000 which is an incredible amount of money for us.

“He did a sky jump for us as well and events in his store.

“He’s donated a pound from every item previously.”
