Emergency services were called after a horse was trapped in a ditch.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue service was called to Upper Beeding at about 10.40am, to rescue Logan the horse.

The rescue operation took two hours and Logan was taken to safety. 

A spokeswoman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 10.40am to a horse which had fallen into a ditch.

"We sent our specialist animal rescue team from various parts of the county.

The Argus:

"They rescued the horse at 12.49pm, using winches and animal rescue equipment.

"It was handed back to the owner and to the vet."
