Jamie Walker finds the top ten Instagram posts from Brighton this week.

As the winter weather adds a certain chill to the air, we all need some warming up. Thankfully social media has us covered, with plenty of heart-warming photos from across the world. We have a local band doing big things, two YouTubers with good news and some fantastic shots that showcase the beauty of the city. If you’d like to submit a picture email the Instagram link to jamie.walker@theargus.co.uk

1. Graduation goals

Okay now, technically this is a video but there’s no way I could leave it out. Sussex University makes memories every year, as students graduate their courses. But this video was taken as not only a student graduated, but also got proposed to by her boyfriend. A truly special moment caught on camera and I urge you to check out the full video on the @sussex uni Instagram.

2. A fiery performance

Brighton metallers Architects had one heck of a 2018 and kicked off 2019 in some style. Currently in the midst of a headline arena tour of the UK, the group have come a long way since their BIMM upbringing. Here they are engulfed by flames at the Manchester Arena causing havoc. See more of their tour on @architects

3. Away Day traveller

Brighton and Hove Albion take on Manchester United this weekend and thousands of fans are making the trip to Old Trafford to see it. Emilia Smolka has drawn one of the fans making their way to the game. Check out more of Emilia’s illustrations and artwork on her Instagram page @emiliasmillustrations

4. A scenic swing

The Gin Tub in Hove offers excellent drinks and with a swing in the garden how can you say no? @hollyemmaxx did seem to enjoy it and you can too.

5. Aerial art

This fantastic rooftop artwork is somewhat of a hidden gem in the city, mainly due to how high up it is. But when you get to the appropriate height it really is something spectacular. There are bits of art like this across the city and they are definitely worth finding. See the @brighton Instagram for more of this fine city.

6. Kitty carpool

British singer-songwriter Jade Bird sent out this teaser to her fans and tagged herself in Brighton with Hello Kitty. Whether the Japanese animated cat has anything to do with the announcement is unknown. To see this announcement and more from her musical life, including tour photos, visit @jadebirdmusic

7. Subscriber celebrations

Here is a YouTuber with reason to celebrate. Jessica Kellgren-Fozard has been a leading light in the LGBT and disability community with her inspiring videos. She reached 400,000 subscribers this week and so wife Claudia took to their shared Instagram to post how proud she is of her. How sweet. See more of their lives on @jessieandclaud

9. Driving Delight

Brighton is certainly a hub for YouTubers and another Sussex star who makes their way on the online video site is Sarah Diallo. Sarah is a fashion and lifestyle YouTuber and has recently been making rounds online for releasing a booklet which will help people pass their driving test. That comes after she passed her test, at the seventh attempt. You can see more fashion, lifestyle and shots from around Sussex on her Instagram page @sarahdiallo make sure you go and check it out. And maybe give her booklet a read too if you want some driving tips.

10. Mesmerising Murmurations

Another amazing shot from the seaside sees an incredible murmuration in front of the Palace Pier. Snaps like this make you realise what a fantastic place we live in. See more photography at @visualair
