GLENN MURRAY has spoken of his disappointment at missing a golden chance to stun Old Trafford.

But he has urged Albion to keep their heads up after their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.

Murray hastily sliced wide of the near post after Solly March sent him in behind the home defence with the Seagulls 1-0 down in the first half.

It was the sort of opening from which he would normally be expected to at least test David De Gea.

Murray, who was pleased with much of the team’s performance, told The Argus: “The ball was running away from me and I just felt as though I was running out of angle more than anything.

“It had a wicked spin on it from Solly’s ball and unfortunately I just sliced it.

“That is the one thing from the afternoon that I was disappointed with.”

Murray grew up as a United fan and cheered Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s late winner from the stands of the Camp Nou in the 1999 Champions League final.

But he said: “Whether it was against Burnley, Liverpool, Manchester United or anybody – I expect to do better.”

The striker added: “I think we were unlucky not to come away with something.

“We are disappointed to give away, we felt, two poor goals.”
