A WEATHER warning for ice is in force overnight and into the morning.

The Met Office has issued an alert from midnight tonight (Monday) until noon tomorrow.

All of West Sussex is covered by the warning, as well as Brighton and Hove, but some parts of East Sussex including Eastbourne and Hastings will escape the worst of the weather, according to forecasters.

Experts are warning of the risk of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

Driving conditions are expected to be treacherous and bus and rail services could be delayed, the Met Office has warned.

It said on its website: "A band of rain and hill snow will move south-eastwards across the UK during Monday evening and overnight.

"Behind this, surface temperatures will rapidly fall away with some ice forming on some surfaces."

Brighton and Hove City Council's emergency shelter in Wagner Hall, Regency Road, is open tonight for rough sleepers.
