The Sussex FA have defended their decision to postpone Albion's Sussex Senior Cup quarter-final at Eastbourne tomorrow night.

The tie at the Saffrons has been called off due to the Seagulls' FA Youth Cup tie at Manchester United last night and Saturday's FA Cup clash against West Brom at the Amex.

Eastbourne Town said in a tweet this morning the postponement was because of Brighton "not having enough players available for selection."

Manager John Lambert, speaking to the Eastbourne Herald, accused the Sussex FA of giving Albion "special treatment" and said "it stinks".

The Sussex FA have now issued a statement, clarifying the postponement.

The statement said: "FA competitions take precedence over the Sussex Senior Cup and we actively support all Sussex clubs progression in any national competition.

"We have in the past rescheduled Senior Cup fixtures due to clubs in the FA Vase and FA Trophy, and in this situation the rearrangement is due to Albion competing in the FA Youth Cup last night and the FA Cup this weekend.

"The decision to reschedule the fixture was agreed in advance of the match with the Sussex FA and with the full understanding and support of Eastbourne Town FC."

No new date has been fixed for the rearrangement.
