A SUSPECT has been charged on suspicion of a city centre rape.
Detectives say Mahad Hussain was arrested and charged over the alleged offence where a 25-year-old woman reported being raped in Ship Street in The Lanes on Tuesday, January 15.
The 22-year-old appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court today, charged with two counts of rape on a woman aged 16 or over.
Officers cordoned off an alleyway between Fatface and Cafe Coho while forensics tests were carried out.
They issued a public appeal to track down Hussein after the incident.
Hussein, of Copenhagen Place in Tower Hamlets was remanded in custody, and will next appear at Lewes Crown Court on Tuesday, February 19.
