COUNCIL bosses will close the doors of a homeless hostel because it is not fit for purpose.
The West Pier Project has been running services at Regency Square in Brighton.
Brighton and Hove City Council is planning to end its lease at the hostel, which helps rough sleepers battling drug and alcohol addictions.
The centre has had a notorious reputation, with The Argus previously reporting that police and fire services were called to the premises more than 700 times between 2011 and 2015.
There was also controversy when the council looked to switch the hostel to Hereford Street in Brighton in October 2017, where residents signed a petition in opposition to it.
Council bosses say the hostel has capacity for 26 residents to be provided support round-the-clock to help them rebuild their lives.
They said that no one will be made homeless and no staff will lose their jobs as a result of the end of the lease.
