MOTORISTS have been banned from getting behind the wheel after admitting drink and drug driving offences.

The drivers all appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court last week to answer the charges.

Daniel Brennan was found to be driving a Vauxhall in Jesmond Road in Hove in September last year, he tested positive for cannabis and cocaine in his system.

Magistrates fined the 31-year-old, of Plaistow Close in Whitehawk, ordering him to pay £120 along with a £30 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. He was banned for 18 months.

Police stopped 44-year-old Gursharn Flora in Newhaven Road in Seaford in September with cocaine in his system.

Flora, of Lansbury Drive in Hayes, was fined £120 and told to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. He was banned for 14 months.

Stephanie Ray was tested for blood alcohol. She had 135 milligrammes (mg) of alcohol per 100 millilitres (ml) of blood. The legal limit is 80mg per 100ml.*

The 26-year-old, of Gower Road in Haywards Heath, was in her Vauxhall on the A27 near Lewes in October.

She has been banned for 16 months and was ordered to pay a £261 fine, a £30 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

Police stopped Jack McInnes in his Ford Fiesta on December 30 when he was more than twice the alcohol limit. The 23-year-old, of Fairwarp in Uckfield was fined £450 and told to pay a £45 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. He was banned for one year and ten months.

Connor Watkinson was stopped for drink-driving in Rottingdean High Street on December 28. The 20-year-old of Highdown in Southwick was fined £80 and told to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. He was banned for a year.

Finally Ciro Conte, of Kirkdale in Lewisham, was stopped in London Road in Brighton on New Year's Day this year.

The 34-year-old was double the alcohol limit in his Vauxhall. Magistrates fined him £168 and told him to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. He was banned for 18 months.

*The story previously stated that Ms Ray had been "nearly four times over" the drink drive limit, with 135mcg of alcohol per 100 ml of breath. This was incorrect.
