TODAY The Argus launches its annual search for the Gym of the Year.

Each year we invite readers to nominate their favourite gym.

Last year the public voted for The Gym, which is in Madeira Drive, Brighton, and the team was thrilled with the accolade.

Andy Parkes, group managing editor of Newsquest Sussex and South London and Sussex, presented the award.

The Gym, which is open 24 hours, seven days a week, emerged as one of the top ten choices from 74 nominations.

We are hoping for even more nominations this year.

Niall Rhodes, general manager at The Gym, said at the time: “This is a massive achievement for us.

“This gym has been here for seven years and it just shows the effort the team, and myself, have put in.

“We have many members, and it’s a very good location.

“The treadmills overlook the pier. I really enjoy working here. I started as work experience then I moved on to personal training and came back here.

“I chose this industry because I really want to help people achieve their fitness goals. We have a team of 15 here, our members all come from different age groups – we have people from age 16 to over seventies.

“This just shows how supportive the team is. There’s equipment for everyone and we tailor our training and advice for all groups and fitness levels.”

So who are you going to nominate this year?

Now is the time to make your suggestion.

The nomination form will be printed in The Argus daily until Friday, February 15, and voting will start two weeks later.

To vote couldn’t be easier.

You simply have to cut the coupon out of the paper from February 25 and send it to us.

But first we need you all to nominate your best gym.

Argus editor Arron Hendy said: “I have always said that I want The Argus to be at the heart of the community, and this is another great example of that.”
