A TEENAGER has been arrested for armed robbery after a police chase ended in a crash.

The 18-year-old is the second suspect to be arrested for raiding the Lower Bevendean Post Office last Wednesday.

He is also suspected of two other knifepoint robberies in Brighton.

Police arrested the teenager after they chased a car along Telscombe Cliffs Way, Peacehaven, about 12.40pm on Tuesday.

The vehicle came to a stop when it smashed into a police car.

Two 16-year-old girls from Brighton, who were also in the car, were both arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and one was further arrested on suspicion of possessing a class A drug.

A second man is still on the run after he fled from the car.

He escaped despite a police helicopter searching the area.

It comes after CCTV footage was released of three masked raiders brandishing knives and looting tills during a robbery in Leybourne Parade.

One staff member was punched repeatedly and was stabbed in the leg three times, police said.

A 17-year-old boy was also arrested in Moulsecoomb on Sunday in connection with the armed robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting Operation Fleece.
