THE chilly weather seems to bring out the best of social media, mainly because it takes a brave soul to venture out into the cold just to get that perfect picture.

As ever, reporter Jamie Walker has taken to photo-posting site Instagram to find the ten best photos from across the area this week.

Featuring today are more fantastic landscape shots of our fine city, amazing house art and an adorable little dog.

Let us know your favourite and send your submissions to jamie.walker@thelatest.co.uk.

1. Debbie Harry in Brighton

The Argus:

There is plenty of brilliant street art dotted around Brighton and the @brighton.streetart page showcases the best of it.

Here we see Blondie in what it is a fantastic piece of work – whoever did it should be very proud.

2. A cartoon house homage

The Argus:

Some more amazing street art here but on a much bigger scale. Any fans of the popular adult cartoon Rick and Morty will love this house. The crazy doctor and his grandson, who go on all kinds of bizarre adventures, have made their way to Brighton and they seemed shocked by what they are seeing in front of them. I wonder what the poster, @elliot_crawford, did to surprise them so much.

3. A super cute dog

The Argus:

Look as those amazing eyes and appealing expression. Pepper is one adorable dog. Hailing from Sussex this miniature dachshund is incredibly cute. If you check out the @pepperminidachshund Instagram you will see an abundance of similar photos and even some videos of Pepper running around loving every minute of life.

4. Helter Skelter

The Argus:

The Brighton Palace Pier has been a stronghold in the city for 120 years and one of its original attractions, the famous helter skelter, has been part of it all that time. This week, the pier took to social media to unveil the new lights that grace the attraction.

The ride looks wonderful and will brighten up the pier during the dark winter nights. There is plenty to celebrate in Brighton but sometimes it is the small things we can take for granted that need to be celebrated. See more of our famous pier on Instagram at @brightonpalacepier

5. Wall art wonder

The Argus:

Brighton YouTuber Lily Melrose is certainly someone who has an eye for fashion and design, that much is clear just from seeing her channel. Here she is showing off her brilliant wall art. Check out her Instagram @llymlrs for more or watch her on YouTube by searching Lily Melrose.

6. White cliffs

The Argus:

With snow hitting Sussex this week, finally, the city and beyond was sprinkled in the white stuff. To celebrate, this photographer posted a picture from last year when our cliffs were covered in snow. See @ilovebrighton for more of the best photos from across the city.

7. Field of dreams

The Argus:

Sussex is full of tourists and locals alike, all searching for the perfect point to take a photo. I have no idea how long this Instagrammer took finding this location but it certainly paid off in the picture. The view across the sea is breathtaking. See @kingsoohyun_y for more.

8. Aerial views

The Argus:

The @brightonupdaily Instagram page knows how to make the city look pretty. This aerial shot of Brighton, left, makes it look like a colourful little model village

9. Sky scenes

The Argus:

Photos from atop the i360 viewing pod have been a regular feature on Instagram ever since the structure was built on Brighton seafront.

This keen social media poster took to the skies to capture this image of a woman looking out over the coastline.

See @sccura for more travel photos.

10. Pier perfection

The Argus:

Another cracking shot of the Palace Pier here, taken by @travelweekli, this one from the chilly pebbles on the beach. There seems no end to ways photographers can frame our famed attraction.
