Kylie Minogue will headline Brighton Pride 2019.

The Australian pop legend will close the Saturday of the festival on August 3.

Tickets are on sale now.

The 50-year-old has been chosen as the star who will try to top the performance put on last year by Britney Spears.

The singer, who is best known for hits like Can’t Get You Out Of My Head and I Should Be So Lucky, had long been rumoured to be headlining the annual Pride event in Brighton - after announcing a string of big outdoor shows for this summer.

Now those rumours have been confirmed and Kylie will be the main attraction of this year’s three day LGBTQ+ extravaganza.

The Pride in the Park show takes place in Preston Park.

Kylie released her 14th studio album, Golden, in 2018 and has already confirmed shows across Australia and the UK for this year.

Headlining Pride in the Park, Kylie will follow in the footsteps of pop princess Britney Spears - who caused pandemonium for ticket buyers when she was announced as the headliner last year.

Spears caused Pride websites to crash multiple times in the rush to snap up tickets.

She would eventually end up breaking Pride records by performing to a crowd of 57,000 in Preston Park.

Kylie becomes the third act announced for this year’s Pride Festival, after Jessie J and Grace Jones were confirmed to be playing Love BN1Fest which takes place on Pride Sunday.

A Pride spokesman said: "The term ‘legend’ is far too readily bandied around these days, but Kylie is truly deserving of the title and we can’t wait to welcome her to Brighton for a full show packed with all the hits."

More artists and a schedule will appear on the Brighton Pride website over the coming weeks.

Tickets for all Pride events are available only through the official Pride Ticket Shop at Pride-Tickets.org
