A FORMER member of the Sex Pistols will headline a week-long festival.

Glen Matlock, bassist for the punk rock band, is going solo for the Hastings Fat Tuesday Music Festival.

Matlock will play three shows at The London Trader, The Albion and The Carlisle on the closing day of the festival, March 5.

As well as being the bassist, Matlock wrote the lyrics for some of the Sex Pistols’ most famous songs including Anarchy in the UK and God Save The Queen.

Matlock was originally only in the band for two years – departing to form Rich Kids – although he has been part of subsequent reunions, most recently in 2008.

It won’t be the first time Glen has played in Hastings. The Sex Pistols supported Seventies’ rock band Budgie on Hastings Pier in 1976.

Glen said: “We’re looking forward to playing Hastings.

“Can anyone recommend a decent chippy?”

Hastings Fat Tuesday runs from March 1 to 5 in venues across the town.
