A MAN from Sussex has been arrested and the hunt is on for a second suspect after a police constable was assaulted during a routine stop of a car.
The officer, who has not been named, suffered cuts and bruises during the incident in Synod Inn, Ceredigion, Wales on Saturday and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Dyfed-Powys Police said he was waiting for further medical assessments and was unable to return to work.
The officer had carried out a routine stop on a car travelling through the area when he was assaulted by the male occupants.
The two men made off on foot and a search ensued to locate them, involving the armed response unit and a police helicopter.
Dyfed-Powys Police said a 29-year-old man from Sussex was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and three counts of taking vehicles without consent.
Police are still appealing for any sightings or information about the outstanding man, who is white and could be wearing shorts and a white T-shirt with grey in the middle.
Chief Superintendent Peter Roderick said: “While one person has been arrested, the second is currently outstanding.”
