BEANO is moving to Sussex

The publisher of the much-loved children’s comic is among five companies which have taken offices within Pacific House on Eastbourne’s Sovereign Harbour Innovation Park, and an existing occupier has expanded to a third office, bringing the building’s occupancy level to around 90%.

The latest tenants are DC Thomson Media – publisher of The Beano comic - as well as Christian Copyright Licensing International, Spearpoint Consulting, Perspective (South East) and JarvisTech.

DC Thomson Media has taken an office on the upper floor of Pacific House.

The company recently acquired Aceville Publishing, which had been based in The Boatshed in Eastbourne’s Sovereign Harbour and has been one of the UK’s fastest-growing independent publishers.

DC Thomson’s publications span newspapers and magazines focused on home, gardening, health, food, crafts, education, women’s, children’s and business interests. They include The Beano, which has entertained children since 1938, People’s Friend, which celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, My Weekly, Natural Health, Great British Food, Teach Primary, Nursery Business, Retail Packaging, What Franchise and Global Franchise.

With the company’s recent acquisition and ambitious growth plans, according to Sales Director Mark Forsyth, it moved its Eastbourne operation to Pacific House “to allow for our expansion in a first-class working environment”.

Christian Copyright Licensing International has taken a large office on the first floor of Pacific House for its UK Service Centre, which it is fitting out ready to move into in March. The company provides licences for organisations such as churches and schools to use songs, make copies and show films.

Jenny Coomber, Service Centre Manager, says: “We’ve been based in Eastbourne town centre for 20 years. Our move to Pacific House is part of an exciting new chapter for the company. The building is in a prime location — modern and bright with excellent facilities.”

Two financial services firms have also moved into the building.
