POLICE have charged a man with abducting a 13-year-old girl .

Kerian Rudland is accused of meeting the girl from Brighton after grooming her online.

The 23-year-old from Eltham was also charged with two offences of sexual activity with a child and one offence of attempting to incite sexual activity with a child.

Specialist officers from the Brighton Safeguarding Investigations Unit received a report on Sunday, and unemployed Rudland, of Alwold Crescent, was arrested on Monday morning. He appeared at Brighton Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, and will appear at Lewes Crown Court on March 13.

The girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, is now safe.

Police said there are no current safeguarding issues for any other person in relation to the case.
