A PARANOID schizophrenic died after a drug binge, a documentary inquest heard on Tuesday.

Brett Vickers, 46, was found dead after taking hard drugs over a period of two days with his friends and brother.

He had a history of heavy drinking and drug misuse, the court heard.

He left his home in Otter Close, Chichester with his girlfriend to meet his brother at a mutual friend’s house.

The group of four started drinking at the friend’s house in Cissbury Road,Worthing on August 23 last year.

They spent the night drinking alcohol and taking cocaine.

This continued into the morning of the 25 when Mr Vickers’ brother ,Wayne, found him unresponsive that morning, the court heard.

Emergency services were called and he was confirmed dead by paramedics at 11.25am on August 25.

A post-mortem examination detected drugs in his system.

It confirmed Mr Vickers died from a heroin overdose.

The inquest at Centenary House in Crawley heard that no charges for supplying drugs have been made.

Assistant coroner Karen Harrold said: “I am satisfied that on the balance of probabilities Brett Vickers was a regular user of illicit drugs and died after an overdose of heroin after also consuming cocaine.

“I can confirm this was a drug related death.”
