MEMBERS from all sides of the Brexit discussion will meet to debate its causes and what to do next.

Caroline Lucas, MP for Brighton Pavilion, will be present at the event, which is part of a series of events set to be held across the UK.

This is being called the People’s Voice.

Business owners, community leaders and young people from Brighton and Hove will also take part in the event, which takes place on Friday evening at Brighton, Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College (BHASVIC) between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

Tickets to the event need to be booked in advance.

Caroline Lucas said: “It’s time for an honest conversation about why so many people voted for such drastic change in 2016 and what we can do to build a fairer future.

“The People’s Voice will bring together people from all sides of the Brexit debate, in Brighton and across the nation, to listen to each other and talk about how a People’s Vote can be the first step towards creating a country that works for everyone.”

She added: “A People’s Vote must be a different kind of campaign to the 2016 referendum. We have to recognise that many people voted to leave because they are, rightly, deeply unhappy with the way this country works, and with the grotesque levels of inequality which blights so many people’s lives.

“That means we must offer solutions to the UK’s entrenched problems that all sides can believe in.

“But, I fear that leaving the EU will only make it more difficult to heal our society’s divisions, transform our economy and revitalise our democracy.

“The Brexit deal on offer is nothing like the one we were promised three years ago. It commits us to endless years of negotiating which will suck up time and resources that should be spent fixing the real problems this country faces.”
