A GROUP of men have “fled” from the scene of a head-on crash.
Emergency services were called to Sunninghill Avenue in Hangleton after reports of a crash between two cars.
The road remains blocked and it is understood a driver has been injured and taken to hospital after the collision at 3.55pm today.
Builder Nick Adams, 30, witnessed the aftermath. He said: “I heard this big collision around the corner. There was a screech of the brakes for what seemed like ages.
“A black BMW came steaming round the corner and hit a silver Peugeot head on. There were puffs of smoke coming from the cars and the airbags had gone off.
“Men got out of the car and all ran off. I heard the woman screaming in the Peugeot and thought, if that was my mother I would want someone to run after them.
“So I chased and got hold of one guy and my friend Luke chased another guy.
“Police also arrested someone at the crash.”
Police said: “We received a report of a two-car collision in Sunninghill Avenue, Hove.
“Officers and emergency services are currently on scene and the road is blocked. A group of what is believed to be three or four men have fled from one of the vehicles.”
