CHRIS Eubank Jr has been criticised for driving his supercar into a television studio for an interview.

The Brighton boxer pulled into the ITV This Morning studio in a £210,000 McLaren, accompanied by his former world champion father, also called Chris.

Many social media users were quick to condemn the 29-year-old’s actions.

One Twitter user said: “Eubank Jr driving his car into the This Morning studio.

“What a w*****.”

Another added: “Got a car worth a couple of hundred bags and thinks he’s God’s gift.

“I would be embarrassed.”

Another person was not impressed, but said it had worked well as a publicity stunt.

They said: “I know it’s to hype the fight, but this is ridiculous.

“You don’t endear yourself to people whatsoever.

“But, I guess you have got people talking, so fair play.”

However, others enjoyed his entrance.

One Twitter user said: “This is proper showbusiness.

“It made me laugh, and I miss his dad and his Tweed outfits.”

Another described the pair as “eccentric” and said they “arrived in style”.

Eubank Jr had bought the car on Valentine’s Day.

The interview took place on Wednesday morning ahead of Eubank Jr’s fight with former two-time world champion James Degale.

The fight will take place at the O2 Arena on Saturday.

This will be Eubank Jr’s 30th professional fight.

Speaking ahead of the contest, Eubank Jr said: “I have an amazing fan base.

“I also have an amazing number of haters.

“People who don’t believe, people who don’t want me to succeed. I don’t really mind having those people around.

“If anything, it’s actually a good thing for me because it keeps me in the gym, keeps me working hard, knowing there are people out there who don’t want me to succeed.”

The boxer also defended his decision to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds on the car, saying that being a competitor in “the hardest sport in the world” justified living a lavish lifestyle away from the boxing ring.

He said: “Image is important, this is the entertainment game.

“People are paying to watch you fight so you’ve got to have something about you, you can’t be boring.

“You’ve got to have a little bit of sauce, otherwise what’s the point?”

His father added: “He’s got the speed and the youth, the drive.

“I’ve always been about that flamboyant stuff, but that’s showbusiness.”
