BUILDERS chased down and caught men running away from a car crash yesterday.

The crash happened at 3.55pm in Sunninghill Avenue in Hangleton as a black BMW smashed into a silver Peugeot.

A Peugeot driver, a woman in her 40s, was left with minor injuries and treated by paramedics.

A group of men from the other car fled from the scene.

But, two builders ran after the men and caught one of them before handing him over to officers to be arrested.

A second man was later arrested when he handed himself in to police.

A 36-year-old man from Eastbourne was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop after a collision, failing to report involvement in a collision and driving without insurance.

A 31-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking.

Both remain in custody as of Friday morning.
