THE longest-established solicitors in Brighton and Hove has gone into administration,
Howlett Clarke was founded in 1773 and had offices in Church Street, Brighton, and Southwick Square, Southwick.
The company is part of QualitySolicitors, the largest network of law firms in the company.
Last week we reported it was to close.
It has been confirmed Howlett Clarke has entered administration.
The firm had suffered severe cashflow difficulties in recent months and stopped taking on new client work in January.
At the same time, 19 members of staff were made redundant.
A statement from the administrators said: “Upon appointment, the joint administrators secured the sale of Howlett Clarke’s live cases and assets, which will ensure continuity for the firm’s clients.”
