THE best restaurants in the city have been announced.

Brighton’s Best Restaurant have been listing the city’s top 20 eating establishments, every year, since 2016.

The list was announced at a special ceremony at the Brighton Komedia last night.

The Little Fish Market tops the list for the second year running, but there are a few surprises that people may not expect.

With so many restaurant choices in Brighton making this list was always going to prove tough for the judges

First: The Little Fish Market, Upper Market Street, Brighton

The Argus:

For the second year in a row the Little Fish Market has proved to be top of the pile when it comes to restaurants in Brighton.

Second: Bincho Yakitori, Preston Street, Brighton

The Argus:

Brighton’s second placed restaurant also keeps its place, and proves that a restaurant doesn’t need to be expensive to make the list.

Third: Cin Cin, Vine Street, Brighton

The Argus:

Serving Authentic Italian food, Cin Cin has become a favourite among locals. With locations in Brighton and Hove it has proved worth a visit.

Fourth: Etch, Church Road, Hove

The Argus:

It seemed likely that the restaurant run by Steven Edwards would place highly on this list and so it proves. With quality, contemporary, food, Etch is one of Brighton's most unique dining experiences.

Fifth: The Chilli Pickle, Jubilee Street, Brighton

The Argus:

With it's original take on authentic Indian food, Chilli Pickle is far more than just curries - and that has helped the restaurant endear itself to Brightonians looking for a spicy taste of the sub-continent.

Sixth: The Set, Regency Square, Brighton

The Argus:

This small, independent, restaurant has put its focus firmly on local produce and the care and detail shown to the every single dish has been recognised time and again by punters and critics alike.

Seventh: 64 Degrees, Meeting House Lane, Brighton

The Argus:

Dropping four places, having finished third last year, 64 Degrees placing is more a testament to the great competition there is in Brighton.

Eighth: The Gingerman, Norfolk Square, Brighton

The Argus:

Part of Brighton's famous Gingerman Group, Ben McKellar's chain of restaurants are always popular.

Ninth: The Salt Room, Kings Road, Brighton

The Argus:

This award winning seafood restaurant, situated inside the Hilton Metropole, is the top ranking place to eat shellfish by the sea.

Tenth: Petit Pois, Ship Street , Brighton

The Argus:

Specialising is classic French food, as the name may suggest, Petit Pois is a taste of France just a stones throw from the seaside. No wonder it's popular.

11th: Chard at Igigi, Western Road, Hove

The Argus:

Tucked away in general store Igigi, Chard started as a pop-up restaurant but proved so popular that it now has a permanent home. Lucky for those who want to give it a try without searching too hard.

12th: Baby Bao at The Pond, Gloucester Road, Brighton

The Argus:

Serving authentic Asian Bao buns out of a popular pub in Brighton, is there anything that sounds better than taking a bite along with a pint? This business partnership is a match made in heaven.

13th: Isaac At, Gloucester Street, Brighton

The Argus:

This fine dining restaurant is set in a open and spacious dining area. Sourcing local ingredients, Isaac At know what they do and they do it very well, hence their inclusion of this list.

14th: Fourth and Church, Church Road, Hove

The Argus:

This wine merchants also includes a wine bar and tapas style eating experience. If you need a bottle of wine but fancy a bite to eat first, you can get both here.

15th: Goemon Ramen Bar, Preston Street, Brighton

The Argus:

Ramen is becoming increasingly popular in the city and these specialists of the classic Asian dish do it simply but well.

16th: Plateau, Bartholomews, Brighton

The Argus:

Another wine bar on the list, Plateau also serves classic cocktails and fantastic food. It's the perfect place for a bite and a stiff drink.

17th: Fatto a Mano, London Road, Brighton

The Argus:

There is always debate about the best pizza in Brighton, Fatto a Mano is always mentioned in the debate and for good reason.

18th: Murmur, Kings Road Arches, Brighton

The Argus:

Michael Bremner, who also runs 64 Degrees, adds another of his restaurants to the list with this seafront location. Modern British food with an excellent view, perfect to visit in the summer time.

19th: Market.Western Road.Hove

The Argus:

A modern Anglo-Spanish Tapas Bar with added flair, this spot is perfect for a nice lunch of light dinner with friends. Quaint and relaxed, it is usually busy and always dished out great food.

20th: Riddle and Finns, Meeting House Lane, Brighton

The Argus:

Another seafood restaurant on the list, no surprise considering we are by the sea, Riddle and Finns is known for its classic oyster and bubbly combination but also serves plenty of other top notch seafood.
