THE best restaurants in the city have been acknowledged for their fine food at an awards ceremony.

Brighton’s Best: Top 20 Restaurants announced the newest dining establishments to make the list at a presentation at Brighton Komedia on Monday.

Little Fish Market, in Upper Market Street, confirmed its reputation as one of the premier restaurants in the country when it topped Brighton’s Best: Top 20 Restaurants list for the second year in a row.

To top it off the restaurant also won awards for Best Chef and Best Front of House.

Notable entries in the top 20 are Japanese restaurant Bincho Yakitori, which claimed second spot for consecutive years.

Cin Cin Italian restaurant rounded out the top three.

The biggest climb from last year came from The Gingerman, which leapt from 20th place last year to eighth.

The awards are voted for by experts including food writers, chefs, restaurateurs and business leaders, all of who have an intimate knowledge of the Brighton and Hove restaurant landscape.

For the first time this year, the main voting panel was boosted by a “super jury” of “dedicated diners”, a group of Brighton residents, hand-picked by the organisers for their prolific dining habits both in the city and around the country and the world
