AN EX-US army sergeant who missed the chance to propose to the love of his life is hoping to find her again – but he can’t remember her name.

Lloyd Daniel Kelso, 59, met the “beautiful lady”, who was a cook in the British Army, while skiing in Austria in March 1987.

Mr Kelso, known as Danny, said he had a whirlwind romance with the Brighton woman who was in her early twenties, listening to the Dirty Dancing soundtrack.

He had planned to propose to her on the pier during a visit to the city in September 1988.

But he cancelled the flight due to pressure from his family and the unknown woman was left waiting in vain for him at the airport.

She was so upset that she then cut all ties with him.

Mr Kelso, who lives in North Carolina, said: “I walked around the German town I was stationed at crying all evening.

“I was so heartbroken.

“Every time I hear the sound track of Dirty Dancing and some other slow songs I get emotional.”

Mr Kelso said he danced with his lover to I’ve Had the Time Of My Life by Bill Medley and Eric Carmen’s 1987 hit Hungry Eyes.

He said the woman was pregnant during their romance, though it was not his child.

He said he wanted to marry her and help raise the child. He describes his lost love as blonde, about 5ft 6in with a “beautiful hour glass figure”.

He said “I will never forget her, never.

“I will always love her.

“I believe that she still remembers me.

“I can’t remember her name.

“The more I think about her, I think her name might be Elizabeth.

“I’m not sure though.”

Mr Kelso is disabled and has trouble walking after three back surgeries for injuries sustained in parachute jumps.

He said: “If she does read this paper, I will get a passport and save some money so I came meet her at London Heathrow airport.”
