A YOB who attacked three police officers while on drugs has been ordered to complete rehabilitation.

John Power carried out the assaults in Terminus Road in Eastbourne in November last year.

He was found to be in possession of both cocaine and cannabis by the officers, as well as a belt which was deemed to be an offensive weapon.

In court, it was revealed that the 31-year-old was under the influence of alcohol or drugs in a “group situation”.

His guilty pleas were taken into account when he was given a six-month suspended prison sentence for possessing the belt, along with concurrent one-month suspended sentences for the assaults.

At Hastings Magistrates’ Court on Friday Power was ordered to complete 26 rehabilitation sessions with probation and 200 hours of unpaid work.

Power, of Lynett Road in Dagenham, was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115 and £85 for court costs.

He has been ordered to pay the money by March 15, and his belt was confiscated.
